process waste

Our aim

Our aim is to achieve a sustainable future for Lancashire by providing
services to process biodegradable and non-biodegradable community waste.

reduce landfill

Invest in low carbon technology

As the country moves towards a low carbon economy, we will continue to maximise recycling, reduce materials sent to landfill, and invest in low carbon technology in order to minimise the carbon footprint of waste processing in Lancashire.

This includes over 1,000 tonnes per week of kerbside-collected recycling material via our material recovery facility (“MRF”), which separates plastic, cans, and glass into separate fractions ready for the offtake market.

500,000 tonnes of material

Our fleet handles waste with ease

Our fleet of 30 vehicles handles up to 500,000 tonnes of material annually into and out of our facilities as well as across the wider Lancashire County Council network.

diverting 95% From Landfill

Process 5,000 tonnes per week

Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year. Both sites can process over 5,000 tonnes of residual (“black bin bag”) waste per week, diverting 95% of this material away from landfill.
