Logistics

Formed in 2019

We currently operate a fleet of 30 HGVs

LRL Logistics was formed in June 2019, after the existing contract with an external haulier came to a natural end and the decision was made to bring the transport service “in house”.

We currently operate a fleet of 30 HGVs. These consist of articulated Volvo FH globetrotter tractor units, coupled to a mixture of bulk ejector and walking floor trailers (all manufactured by BMI). The fleet has been fitted out with automated hydraulic systems for the sheeting systems and rear door to minimise manual operation and reduce potential risk. The specification of the cabs is designed to provide high levels of driver comfort and an overall great working environment. They are also fitted with modern safety systems and have 360-degree camera coverage.

Servicing Lancashire & beyond

Our operating area is mainly within the Lancashire County, servicing the Council’s transfer stations as well as our own sites at Thornton and Leyland. We also venture into Cheshire, Greater Manchester, and Cumbria with some of the recycled materials we carry.

34,000 tonnes of waste

In an average month, LRL’s Logistics team organises the movement of approximately 34,000 tonnes of waste and recyclables. The team looks to plan in the most efficient way possible, to minimise empty journeys and always strive for time and cost savings wherever possible.

Our dedicated team of drivers cover around 95,000 miles every month

The overall monthly tonnage equates to over 1,800 loads and is made up of different waste streams which includes paper, card, plastics, glass, residual, and bulky waste amongst others. As well as covering around 95,000 miles, moving over 1,800 loads, and clocking up nearly 7,000 duty hours every month, our team of drivers are supported by our trusted subcontractors during the busy periods of the year.

For Future Generations

Offtakes

At Lancashire Renewables, we produce a range of products from the waste we receive from household waste collections. Each type of waste (“offtake”) is transported to various organisations for reuse or recycling.
