Operations & Maintenance

The primary aim of the Operations and Maintenance Service is to help our stakeholders effectively reduce waste through efficient operational and maintenance activities at our two purpose-built sites. We do this by reclaiming, recycling, and reusing waste, effectively diverting waste from landfill.

Each site receives domestic waste collected by local authority refuse collections teams. The waste comprises of household (black bin) waste, paper, card, glass, metals, and plastics.

Our Operations and Maintenance Service is integral to our waste processing activities on site. Whether through waste sorting and segregation duties, environmental monitoring activities, planned, reactive mechanical, and electrical maintenance, or the operation of plant and mobile equipment.

Highly skilled and dedicated teams

Highly skilled and dedicated teams sort and organise the waste both manually and mechanically to separate the mixed streams into easily recyclable sizes and types before processing.

The manual sorting process is principally to remove contaminant materials (such as batteries, gas cannisters, electrical waste and other contaminants) from the waste stream before it reaches the mechanical sorting operation.

The mechanical sorting process involves shredders, trommels, eddy current separators and over-band magnets. Separated waste is moved around the sites using fixed assets such as conveyors and various mobile plant equipment operated by our trained team.
